Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Parc National Des Volcans

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali for the 7 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Primates Safari and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On your day of arrival at Kigali airport, our experienced driver/ guide will collect pick you from the airport and have a short stopover in Kigali, After the stopover, you will drive of to the east of Rwanda through the scenic and panoramic landscapes to the Parc National des Volcans.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Set off early morning to have the once in a lifetime opportunity to venture on an exhilarating visit to the Mountain Gorilla’s natural habitat. The forest is made of shady bamboo thickets with sensational views of lush green tropical rainforests, alive with the calls of tropical birds. After your briefing at the forest head quarters, you will be divided into groups of 8 people then you head for the gorilla trek. Your guide will help you to locate the gorillas and you will be able to spend sometime with them.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking
Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Lake Kivu
Volcanoes National Park is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo peaks) which are covered in rainforest and bamboo. This is the park where the world-renowned zoologist Dian Fossey carried out her research about mountain gorillas. On this day you also venture into the forests of Volcanoes National Park to track the rare Golden Monkeys.
Thereafter, your journey continues to Lake Kivu.

Day 4: Lake Kivu transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On the 4th day of the 7 days Rwanda gorilla and primate safari you go to the green fields of tea and coffee plantations to Gisenyi on the shorelines of Lake Kivu – which is situated at 1.461 m above sea level. Lake Kivu is the best location for all those interested in water activities such as sailing, wind surfing and sport fishing, boat cruise. There is also the local cuisine to explore as well as dance like the intore dance, drum performances and other cultural activities that represent the Rwandan culture.
Later that day, your journey continues to the Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
Nyungwe Forest National Park is home to lots of chimpanzees in Rwanda. Unlike gorilla trekking which requires a gorilla permit, chimpanzee trekking does not require a permit. Chimpanzees are easy to trek. Your tour guide will take you through the forest following bamboo leftovers in order to be able to find them. Once you find them, the chimpanzees are very friendly and they get excited when they see cameras.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest and Transfer to Kigali

Chimpanzee Tracking: Here, you have the opportunity to track chimpanzees in their natural habitat and relish sensational views of lush green rainforests, alive with the calls of tropical birds. In addition to chimps, there are also black and white as well as red Colobus monkeys as well as hundreds of tropical bird species.
Nature Walk: Thereafter you venture on one of the longer nature trails in the Nyungwe forest such as the Umuyove, Imbaraga, or Uwinka Trails. And the opportunity to encounter any one of more than 270 species recorded, makes Nyungwe the perfect bird watcher’s paradise.
Canopy Walk: One of the highlights of your visit is the highest forest canopy walk in East Africa with walkways built as high as 50 meters above ground level and the opportunity of close encounters with many rare bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco.
